Abstract artist
I took a close up of a statue so the actual original form of it is unrecognisible. Abstract photography is often not a specific object, but a enlarged segment

A commercial photographerI felt like advertisement should show the product as it is and that's why i decided to take a ordinary picture of the whole sculpture with no cropping or editing. The picture is plain and honest.

A historianA historian would want the object/sculpture to look magnificent and stand proud, so I desided to take a picture from underneath to create an effect of it being larger and above all.

One of the photographers that stood out to me with their series of work was deffinitely Irving Penn. I love his work and I like the perspective from which he photographers. He photographs smartly dressed up people in a certain position, but every single one is different to the other and they all individualy give of a certain vibe. Photographs can be beautiful and I admire them, but this series of photographs has something special about it that catches my eye. The enclosed, tight wall and the way the figures are positioned in the corners gives it a scary and limiting feeling, and to add on to the mysterios vibe, all the characters have blunt and emotionless facial expressions. I would associate the striking portraits to surrealism because of the way they pose and look. I think making the photographs black and white amplifies the mysterios atmosphere. If Irving Penn was alive I would ask him what his purpose is behind these photographs and why he perticularly chose to photograph in a tight corner with models with such cold expression that stares straight as you. |
